10:00 PM JON WAYNE AND THE PAIN
RETURNING AFTER A GREAT OPENING PERFORMANCE FOR THE MELODIANS!! FREE SHOW!
Jon Wayne’s musical journey has driven him from the frigid cold of North Dakota to the lush warmth of his Jamaican influences, with a few detours thrown in along the way. As the lead vocalist and guitarist of Jon Wayne and The Pain, Jon, with bassist Chuck Torgerson and drummer Chris Hicks, has created a unique sound that combines reggae/ska rhythms, meaningful lyrics with a set of irresistible beats..
Born in Jamestown, North Dakota in 1983, Jon started playing music when he was only ten years old. He began writing his own songs when he was given his first guitar and eventually formed his first band in Fargo, ND in 2003. After moving to Minneapolis in 2004, Jon continued to make music, forming Jon Wayne and The Pain with Chris Hicks in 2005. Playing music influenced by ska, reggae and dub, Jon and the band soon built a large, loyal fan base in Minneapolis. Chuck Torgerson joined Jon Wayne and the Pain in 2008 and the band released their first album in the spring of 2008. Produced by Mark Murphy of Wookiefoot, the self-titled debut was released to strong reviews and a growing a fan base for Jon Wayne and the Pain that has extended beyond the Midwest.
Follow Through by Jon Wayne and The Pain builds upon the success of the group’s self-titled 2008 debut album, once again showcasing their unique mix of reggae, ska, acoustic blues, and dub that fans can’t get enough of. This signature sound, referred to as ‘Redemption Reggae’ by the band and their loyal supporters, is one that continues to gain traction across the U.S. and beyond. With this sonically adventurous collection of soon-to-be classic songs Jon Wayne and The Pain are now poised to rise to the top of this exciting genre. Jon Wayne and The Pain are advancing up the music industry ladder on a purely independent basis. The band is in full control of their recordings and have been exclusively booking and promoting their own tour dates. Their efforts have been noticed by a few reggae-rock heavyweights. On occasion the band is joined onstage by members of Sublime and Slightly Stoopid, two scene favorites who have given the Minneapolis musicians a great deal of inspiration and support.
The trio have developed a potent musical synergy that translates into the type of jams that reliably fill empty dance floors. Making guest appearances on the album are Slightly Stoopid’s horn players and percussionist Christofer “C Money” Welter, Daniel “DELA” Dela Cruz, and Oguer “OG” Ocon. Minneapolis hip-hop artist Yoni also contributes to the album with a unique indie hip-hop meets roots-reggae track. Known for crafting songs that not only entertain but often inspire as well, this release finds Jon offering an optimistic update to the tales of personal struggle from the debut album that allowed fans to gain a surprisingly intimate understanding of his motivations. Now seemingly at peace with his turbulent past, Follow Through presents a well earned opportunity to look back upon how far they come while setting their sights firmly on ever greater heights to come.
Summer 2010 will see the perpetually touring act working hard to support the release. Although the band plays around 20 shows each month, it is still not quite enough to satisfy the band’s rabid fan base. This endless tour which bears no name will wind across the western half of the U.S. until further notice.

10:00 PM POLYTOXIC
Buy Tickets RETURNING TO THE SANDBAR FOR ONE SHOW ONLY!!
By incorporating soulful vocals, powerful drum lines, and floating keys into their original material; Polytoxic provides the perfect springboard for improvised performances leading into a dance frenzy. With the combination of Tori Pater's raspy, rugged rock and roll voice, CR Gruver's ability to make his keyboard sound like the lead instrument, and Chad "Chadzilla" Johnson's enthralling drumming, Polytoxic demonstrates its versatility and ability to appeal to a wide variety of listeners.
After over 3,000 gigs and thousands of miles, keyboardist and bassist CR Gruver and guitarist Tori Pater met and played together in the Denver sextet, Two Ton Moxie; a group comprised of members of two of Denver's well-known bands, the Harry Parsons Project and the Crispy Critters. A year later, local Denver drummer Chad Johnson joined the band after years of playing with every musician in Colorado and giving lessons to every aspiring drummer in town. In July 2005, Polytoxic received the Westword Music Showcase award for “Best Jam/Improv band in Denver,” and have shared the stage with people like Bernie Worrell, Eric McFadden, Pnut Daniels, Leo Nocentelli, and Col Bruce. In just a few short months Polytoxic has established themselves as a driving force in the Denver music community. After years of kicking, clawing, and scratching their ways through the trenches of the always tumultuous music industry, Gruver, Pater, and Johnson find themselves together in Polytoxic where improvisation and unpredictability keeps them going. Since improvisation is what keeps these three interested in playing together, the same song is never played twice and every show is guaranteed to be different. This is a band that has no rules, no boundaries, and no doubts that their music can get the audience moving. For more information on Polytoxic and a complete listing of tour dates check out the band’s website at www.polytoxic.biz.

10:00 PM American Beauty w/ Rob Eaton
Buy Tickets Among the Grateful Dead tribute bands appearing on Colorado's music scene in recent years, one newcomer in particular has risen in meteoric style. American Beauty, featuring Rob Eaton, made its debut in December and is bringing its electrifying performance to the Sandbar Sports Grill on Saturday, June 19. The band is building its reputation largely by focusing primarily on the '70s era of Grateful Dead music, which is generally regarded by fans as their "Golden Era". Taking this concept one step further, the band selects certain engagements to showcase it's new feature, "Legendary Dead Shows", in which they perform a pre-announced Grateful Dead show that has risen over time to "legendary" status for its energy, artistry, and song selection. On other occasions, they spontaneously call the songs to suit the feel and vibes of the crowd and venue that particular night, which leaves things wide open to requests from the fans.
American Beauty builds upon its previous notoriety as Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Revue with new additions on drums and keyboards, Andy Sweetser and Stef Briggs. The other three veterans of the previous band include Rob Eaton, of Dark Star Orchestra fame, on rhythm guitar and vocals, Dave Kochmann on lead guitar and vocals, and Jim Allard on bass and vocals. The band always looks forward to playing the Sandbar, a long-time favorite venue of theirs. Show time is 10:00PM.
